Gregg Fleishman is a Culver City-based artist who has been described as a mad genius. You’ll see why when you see this exhibit. These pics were snapped during the building of his “Proposal for Disaster Housing” structure (yes, ALL the fasteners are made of wood). Other items on display include his SCULPTCHAIRS, building kits, models and an assembly diagram. Great design, great gallery. Come check it out — reception this Saturday, May 6, 4-6PM.

Yes, those parts are pretty darn heavy.

could it be made out of recycled cardboard sandwiched with recycled plastic ferom bottle?
    paul.

  3. Sure it can be made from recycled materials. The birch has incredible strength and its use pretty much assures the building’s compliance to code issues, etc. But though the strength requirements of the floor structure are the most stringent, the reduced weight in the upper structure would be an advantage gained by the use of a cardboard based product.

What is the material you are suggesting exactly?
